causes of ww1/reasons why the us entered
Some people think that World War 1 was started by two large countries, but it was started by Serbia and a Austria-Hungary. Serbia was an Austro-Hungarian colony) trying to break away. Austria-Hungary heard about this and told Serbia that they couldn't break away. Archduke Franz Ferdinand (Prince of Austria Hungary) visited Serbia, a Serbian alist from a group called "The Black Hand" assasinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand. If this didn't happen than Germany wouldn't have gotten everyone mad and Serbia would probably still be under Austria-Hungary's rule. The US joined World War 1 for several reasons. One of the reasons are the German Submarines, the Germans set up blockades with submarines all over the English Channel. Submarines are now used for research and traveling. The German Submarines shot down The Luisitania, which was an American passanger ship heading to Britain . The Americans got mad and if the Germans had not sunk the Luisitania then it could be one of the World's Largest Passenger Ships. Woodrow Wilson intercepted a telegram sent to Mexico from Germany asking them to fight with them. If Mexico fought with Germany then Germany would help Mexico get back the states that the US took from Mexico ( part of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas). At that point the US was so mad that they joined the war. The technology created in World War 1 is now used in modern wars today.
