Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes- (Born February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri - Died May 22, 1967 in New York, New York) He was a famous poet in The Harlem Renaissance.
Hughes had explored Harlem after attending Columbia University, forming a permanent attachment which he called "Great Dark City." In 1925 he won a poetry prize from Opportunity Magazine. If he didn't recieve thta poetry prize then he probably wouldn't have been discovered. While Hughes was a busboy at a Washington D.C. hotel he wrote three poems beside the plate of Vachel Lindsay in the dining room. The next day, newspapers were surrounding him, if Vachel Lindsay didn't see his poems he probably wouldn't have been discovered. He was awarded a scholarship to Lincoln University, there he learn to write even better poetry and he wrote two books. If he had not gone to Lincoln University then he probably wouldn't have been one of the nation's top poetry writers. He wrote many poems, the poems were even sent to third-world countries. If his poems weren't sent to third-world countries then he probably wouldn't have been discovered around the world. Langston Huhes now has effected the seciety by helping jazz be much more popularin america and all around the world,so now it has inspired so many people to invent new and different types of music after all he helped people feel happier during The Great Depression.
